VCA Animal Hospitals Offers Free Boarding for Pets Displaced by Hurricane Florence

Business Wire

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.–()–VCA Animal Hospitals announced that select VCA hospitals in Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C. are offering free boarding assistance for dogs and cats, and other species at some hospitals to the families who are being evacuated in the potential path of Florence, and have to find shelter for themselves and their pets.

“With Hurricane Florence expected to batter the Carolinas with gale-force winds and relentless rain for days, evacuated families need to find a safe place to take their pets,” said Art Antin, Chief Operating Officer of VCA Animal Hospitals. “Our hospitals in the surrounding states are extending free boarding for pets so families can concentrate on protecting themselves, knowing their pets being cared for. We encourage families to make arrangements as soon as possible.”

Boarding assistance at participating Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C. hospitals is based on space availability. Pets should be current on vaccinations, but in case they are not, VCA veterinarians will update vaccinations free of charge. VCA Hospitals will also offer a free health assessment exam for pets that have been evacuated or displaced because of the Hurricane Florence.

Affected pet owners who need help boarding their pets are encouraged to check here to identify a hospital near them and call for boarding availability.
